Sounds Like Us Terms and Conditions

  1. No commercial transaction is necessary to enter the competition.
  2. This competition is open to all New Zealand residents or citizens, with the exception of employees of Radio New Zealand, their families, agents and anyone else connected with this promotion.
  3. Entries must be received by 6pm on Friday 16th April 2010. Radio New Zealand accepts no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, illegible, corrupted or fail to reach Radio New Zealand by the relevant closing date for any reason. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt. Entries become the property of Radio New Zealand and are not returned.
  4. Only one entry per person. No entrant may win more than one prize.
  5. To enter, entrants must email their design of file size no more than 10M with a written description of up to 200 words and their phone number to: enter@soundslikeus.co.nz
  6. All designs must incorporate the Radio New Zealand sound icon, a copy of which is available on the competition web site.
  7. All correctly submitted entries will be forwarded to a judging panel made up of representatives from Radio New Zealand and Radio New Zealand’s Brand Management agency: Clemenger BBDO for shortlisting. The entries will be shortlisted based on how well they capture New Zealand culture, how well the idea is incorporated with a radio, and originality. The shortlisted entries and number of shortlisted entries are at the sole discretion of a judging panel and the judges’ decision is final.
  8. The public will vote on the short-listed entries to select a ‘people’s choice’ winner via online votes at www.soundlikeus.co.nz The winner will be calculated by the bayesian average. A judging panel made up of representatives from Radio New Zealand, Clemenger BBDO, Weta Workshop and Te Papa will then select a ‘Judges’ Choice’ Winner from remaining finalists. If the standard of entries is exceptionally high, the Promoter reserves the right to pick more than one ‘Judges Choice’ winner. The judges’decisions on winners are final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  9. The prize for the winners is to have their designs developed as a model by Weta Workshop and then displayed at Te Papa as part of the ‘Sounds Like Us’ installation from 14th June 2010. The winner will be invited to liaise with Weta to develop the model, however the Radio New Zealand reserves the right to adapt or edit the design to create the best representation of the idea for Radio New Zealand purposes.
  10. Prizes are subject to availability. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, Radio New Zealand reserves the right (a) to substitute alternative and (b) in exceptional circumstances to amend or foreclose the promotion without notice. No correspondence will be entered into.
  11. All prizes are non-transferable, non-negotiable and no cash alternatives will be offered. The organizer will make arrangements for the fulfillment of the prize.
  12. The winners will be notified by email or phone on or before Monday 10 May 2010. The winners must respond within 5 working days of Radio New Zealand sending notification, if the winner does not make contact within this time Radio New Zealand reserves the right to selected a substitute winner in accordance with these rules.
  13. Radio New Zealand will publicly announce the winners of the competition on www.soundlikeus.co.nz by Monday 17 May.
  14. By entering this competition each entrant confirms that his/her entry is their wholly-owned creation and to the extent that such entry makes use of any third party materials that these have been fully cleared unless they are no longer protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights. Entrants will keep Radio New Zealand harmless from any claims in relation to their entry that the entry infringes the personal or proprietary right of any other person. By submitting an entry, each entrant (or their parent/guardian on their behalf) grants to Radio New Zealand a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to edit, publish, translate, modify, adapt, make available and distribute the entry throughout the world in any media now known or hereafter invented. Each entrant (or their parent/guardian on their behalf) undertakes to complete any necessary documentation to formalise the licence. If you do not want to grant us these rights, please do not submit materials to us.
  15. The entrant’s design must be wholly original and cannot contain or constitute any form/message of: racism or bigotry; hate speech; physical threats of any kind; political; harassment; libel; copyright infringement; gratuitous profanity; inappropriate nudity; or obscenity.
  16. The winners acknowledge that all intellectual property rights for their designs and any future designs and material that should develop from their designs shall automatically, on creation, vest in Radio New Zealand absolutely.
  17. Radio New Zealand will use any data submitted by entrants only for the purposes of running the competition, unless otherwise stated in the entry details. By entering this competition, all entrants consent to the use of their personal data by Radio New Zealand for the purposes of the administration of this competition and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.
  18. The winners and runners up agree to take part in reasonable post event publicity and to the use of their names and photographs in such publicity.
  19. By entering the competition each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
